We’ve always had a large picture in the shop of an aerial view taken by C. H. Wood in 1953. Mr Wood had a hobby of photography and took up the hobby of flying, then decided to combine the two and took many aerial photos of Bradford and the surrounding area.
His full collection is held by Bradford District Museums & Galleries and includes over 5000 images taken across the U.K.
I have recently bought a drone, and one of the first things I wanted to do was replicate this photo as much as possible showing how the area has changed over time.
I could not get the altitude Mr Wood had, but I have managed to take a photo that shows the same area and in a high enough resolution that it can be zoomed in to see some astonishing detail.
Have a scan around the images and see what you can see!
