Over the last couple of weeks we have made some pretty big improvements to the shop, mainly in the re-surfacing of the forecourt area, and the marking out of parking bays.
The forecourt has been in a pretty dire state for a number of years, but it is a very expensive job, so has had to wait until funds allowed. Now that it is done I wish we had done it sooner, as the difference is astounding! Just the simple job of rolling the road sign out each morning and back in the evening is now so much easier, and several customers have also said how much of an improvement it has made.
The parking bays was something I thought about a few months ago, but decided against as I was told it could cost a lot of money. I forgot about it for a while, but then saw an article about ‘Thermoplastic Road Markings’, which are basically paint on a roll!
Anyone who knows me will tell you I will turn my hand to anything given a challenge, so I bought some of these road markings, hired a blowtorch, and (on a slightly damp evening after closing the shop) got to work. Some might say it is a bit over the top, but I think it is a great finishing touch to the new forecourt, and shows Peel Park Fisheries in a good light.
To finish things off, I built a new bench for the front of the shop (again, I did this myself, because I can, and it cost a third the cost of buying a bench!), and re-stained the bench I previously built. I also made a gate for the side of the shop, as this has always been private property, but as it was open some took to using it as they wanted.

I hope you agree the changesĀ are a great new look for the shop, and improve the image of the shop to boot!
Stay tuned, as we have some exiting news about a special promotion in association with the Telegraph & Argus coming soon!
