I am a firm believer that the customer should get what they want, which is why we normally cook fish to order. By cooking to order, each customer gets a fish cooked how they want it, and as fresh and tasty as can be.
I have realised though that sometimes people don’t realise that you can specify how you would like your fish cooked, so I thought it was time to explain some of the options:
Firstly, there is the batter. Whether you are watching the calories, or just prefer the fish to the batter, you can ask for your fish to be ‘lightly battered‘. I will then batter the fish as normal, but before cooking I will wipe the majority of the batter off the fish, leaving just enough to give a crispy coating.
I fry all fish until they are steaming hot, but sometimes a customer wants the batter extra crispy, so they ask for the fish to be ‘well done‘ – of course, all the fish are done well, but a well done fish will be left to cook for a while longer to ensure the batter is extra crispy.
If you want your fish cooked to your preference you just have to ask.
The choices don’t just end with the fish though, we can cook chips ‘well done’ too, by putting a portion back in to cook a little longer it makes chips a bit crispier on the outside. Teacakes can also be ordered ‘dry’, so will not have any margarine inside, and if you prefer, you can have the long teacake we normally use for fish butties rather than the traditional round ones.
To top it all, you don’t have to order things straight from the menu, you can pick and choose what you want; so if you want a regular fish with just a handful of chips or a scallop special with mushy peas and curry sauce (yes, that is a thing!), we’re happy to help.
Why not have a look at the menu and choose a combination that works for you!
